About Keeping Kids Healthy

On the air, medical issues were introduced by both medical specialists and the parents and children living with those issues. Each half-hour episode of Keeping Kids Healthy covered one or two health care challenges drawn from a broad range of topics, including physical issues such as illness, disability, nutrition, and fitness, but also psycho-social issues such as behavior, mental illness, safety and emotional well-being. Segments addressed topics ranging from heart defects, breastfeeding, teens on kidney dialysis and the obesity/diabetes connection, to teen suicide, behavioral limits and disaster preparedness for children. Skilled producers created moving video stories that brought each topic to life. Special program segments directed viewers to relevant books, organizations, web sites and phone numbers, and a program web site provided community members with additional information about each condition.
